GEIP’s Project Development Objective (PDO) is to enhance the quality and accessibility of general
education in targeted areas, while also ensuring effective responses to crises or emergencies. Key
indicators for measuring PDO achievement include the number of students benefiting from learning
interventions, the percentage of targeted schools meeting minimum standards, and the proportion of
teachers utilizing effective teaching practices in reading and mathematics. The project, funded by an
IDA Credit and a GPE grant, consists of three components: Improving Learning Outcomes,
Strengthening Sector Development and Project Management, and Contingent Emergency Response.
The project comprises three main components:
Component 1: Improving Student Learning Outcomes
Component 2: Improving sub-sector performance and monitoring and evaluation
Component 3: Contingent emergency response
